There are three things you need to know about Kat Tanner (aka Kathleen Tyson. . . and yes, she is *that* Kathleen Tyson): 1) She’s determined to make good decisions, 2) She must get married ASAP, and 3) She knows how to knit.

Being a billionaire heiress isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. In fact, it sucks. Determined to live a quiet life, Kat Tanner changed her identity years ago and eschewed her family’s legacy. But now, Kat’s silver spoon past has finally caught up with her, and so have her youthful mistakes. To avoid imminent disaster, she must marry immediately; it is essential that the person she chooses have no romantic feelings for her whatsoever and be completely trustworthy.

Fortunately, she knows exactly who to ask. Dan O’Malley checks all the boxes: single, romantically indifferent to her, completely trustworthy. Sure, she might have a wee little crush on Dan the Security Man, but with clear rules, expectations, and a legally binding contract, Kat is certain she can make it through this debacle with her sanity—and heart—all in one piece.

Except, what happens when Dan O’Malley isn’t as indifferent—or as trustworthy—as she thought?

Marriage of Inconvenience is the seventh title in the Knitting In the City series, and features Kat and Dan. This is a title that is full of emotion, humour, drama and friendship.

Kat’s family are evil and scheming, and Dan the security man is more than happy to come to her rescue.

Kat Tanner aka Kathleen Tyson is a fantastic heroine, she’s quite enigmatic a little bit geeky, quirky, and neurotic but also strong and resilient. She’s a reluctant heiress and as such can be quite reserved and quiet, but all her actions are very deliberate and controlled. I found her to be an endearing, realistic, and relatable. She’s quite a lonely character, who expresses feelings of shame and unworthiness as a consequence of her teen years, and it makes her vulnerable and uneasy in knowing who to trust.

Dan the security man is a broody, protective, kind, considerate and caring alpha. When Kat turns to him for help, it calls to his protective, loyal and trustworthy nature. He is quite the charmer, and honest and has a tendency to say it like it is. A little bit rough around the edges, but he has a heart of gold, and will do anything for those he cares for most.

Penny Reid is one of the only authors I know that has metaphors & puns sprinkled throughout the story line that leave you feeling a mixture of emotions. Whether it be a warm feeling of happiness that results in a face splitting smile, or cackling and laughing out loud so you’re family give you the side eye you know it will be unique, captivating and entertaining. Overall this title is a fun, sexy, swoony read told in a dual point of view.

Despite the misunderstandings and miscommunications that kept this pair apart their banter is fun, flirty and intelligent. For me Marriage of Inconvenience epitomises a slow burn romance, the relationship Kat and Dan share is unconventional and they have quite a few bumps in the road, on the path to finding their happy ever after.

For those familiar with the Love and Beard series there was some character crossover from the Knitting in the City series in Beard In Mind, and the events in this title take place prior to that book.

I thoroughly enjoyed this title and cannot wait to see where Penny takes her readers next.
